Lake Carroll Aquatic Complex offers both an indoor and outdoor pool. The 142,000 gallon outdoor pool overlooks the scenic backdrop of Carroll County’s rolling hills and features a 50 foot slide, a diving board, water features, and zero depth entry, perfect for the little ones. The Aquatic Complex offers numerous recreational and instructional programs for people of all ages. The indoor pool is climate controlled for year-round swimming and comes complete with three 60ft lap lanes. There are special programs available for younger children and designated adult swim hours for a more relaxed experience.
Camping at Lake Carroll is for Members and their Guests only.
Lake Carroll campground features 135 sites situated on 113 acres in the beautiful backdrop of Carroll County. The campground comes complete with full service electrical and water hook-up options, a newly renovated playground, a spacious shower house, camper storage, a pavilion for group events, and waste station. Seasonal, daily/weekly, and overflow sites are available to members with an abundant area perfect for tent campers. Camper storage is also available for a fee.
The Lake Carroll Clubhouse is located at 29-11 Ironwood Drive. The Clubhouse features a golf/pro shop and the Candlelight Bar & Restaurant. Open to the public, the Candlelight at Lake Carroll overlooks the beautiful Lake Carroll Golf Course. The Candlelight Restaurant Franchise has been operating since 1967 and is best known for their famous "Chicken George." Having earned a reputation for having the highest-quality food, top-notch staff and facilities, they offer both in-house dining and catering services.
For our members with horses, Lake Carroll offers two equestrian areas. Our main equine provides a hillside pasture for grazing with lean-tos for shelters and trees for shade for standard-sized horses.
A second pasture area is located on the south edge of the lake property near the campground and Plumtree Recreation Area. Both areas offer quick access to the 14.5-mile trail system that offers a pleasant ride that takes you in and out of the scenic wooded area that surrounds our land.
Members are responsible for the care of their horses while at Lake Carroll unless other arrangements have been made with another member. The Equestrian Club is a group of members who have a passion for horsemanship and a desire to share their knowledge.
Currently, Lake Carroll’s waters are home to many trophy species, including largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, walleye, black and white crappie, bluegill, yellow perch, channel and flathead catfish, muskie and northern pike. Licenses may be obtained locally at Miller’s Sport Center and/or Trailside General Store. Lake Carroll is one of the few private fisheries in Illinois that operates a fish hatchery where walleye are spawned and raised to be released back into the lake. Along with the hatchery, the Associations funds a liberal fish stocking budget to purchase other desirable species, such as more walleye, muskie, and channel catfish
Lake Carroll Golf Course is a Championship level golf course set amongst the rolling hills of northwest Illinois. Each hole was designed with four sets of tees to accommodate for all levels of play. Lake Carroll Golf Course is one of the best, most modern and up-to-date courses in northwest Illinois. The PGA professional staff has over 20 years’ experience, teaching customized golf lessons to all ages and skill levels. Lake Carroll has reciprocity agreements with 13 other participating golf courses, which allows members to enjoy golf at various locations.
Lake Carroll features Illinois’ largest private lake with nearly 640 acres open water for boating and water sports as well as many quiet bays and coves ideal for fishing, swimming, and relaxing.
Lake Carroll has been committed to maintaining the quality of our member’s lake experience through active lake and natural resource management.
The West Marina is routinely open the middle of May through the end of September and offers Dockside Gas & Oil, Beach, Shower House, & Concessions. Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day Weekend.

The Plumtree Lodge is known for its beautiful breathtaking views of the surrounding hills. It's the perfect place to warm up with a snack at the Plumtree Café, or enjoy a fireside cocktail from the Hideaway Bar overlooking the beautiful grounds. The Plumtree Lodge hosts kids camps and family events all year long. The Lodge is also home to the Tube Hill featuring a mechanical tube-tow system on a 600 foot landscaped incline. For fitness enthusiasts, a member fitness center is located inside the Lodge and outdoor tennis and pickleball courts are adjacent.
Lake Carroll Members have the ability to join any of the 11 social clubs available at Lake Carroll. Being part of the LCA Social Clubs is a great way to get to know other members and to be an active part of our community.
Active clubs include: Equestrian Club, Fishing Club, Garden Club, Ladies Golf League, Prairie Club, Quilt Club, Campground Social Club, Trail Club, Women’s Club, Yacht Club & Veteran’s Club.

Lake Carroll Members and their families have a wide variety of fun events to choose from all year long. From the cardboard boat regatta (pictured), to a kids fishing derby, summer camps, live bands, food trucks in the marina, holiday parties, fireworks, winter fest and even a venetian boat parade, Lake Carroll has something to offer everyone!
The Lake Carroll Trail System consists of various terrains ranging from, hills to climb, several creeks to cross, densely wooded areas, mud pits, and even straight-a-ways behind unimproved lots. The trail circuit is approximately 14.5 miles long and is designed for use by ATV/UTV, horseback, hiking, cross-country skiing, or snowmobile, so take advantage of this beautiful year-round amenity at Lake Carroll. With the changing seasons, this trail has been described as ‘never the same ride twice’! Riders need to complete the Rules & Regulations Test to be compliant with Lake Carroll rules when using the Trail System.
